GEOFF & VANESSA’S WEDDING INVITES!!

winery-blog-photos

Geoff & Vanessa wanted their invitations to reflect who they were as a couple, as artists {he’s an architect and she’s an artist}, and their wedding location {a beautiful winery in Temecula}. So, through all of our brainstorming, we came up with the idea of creating an invite reminiscent of an old wine label and adhering it to a super thin piece of wood {so it could still be sent in an envelope} that also hints at an aged wine barrel. We distressed the entire invite and added a rustic ribbon that would hold the details card on the back. We used straight lines and edges to reflect his architectural side and scripty type to reflect her artistry.

We had a blast creating these and are so happy for Geoff & Vanessa’s new life together!! Thanks for letting us be apart of your special day :)

WE’RE BACK! :)

We hope you and your families had such a magical Christmas together – we sure did! With all the Shindig plans that quickly turned into the Christmas bustle, we haven’t had a chance to share any of our recent projects with you but are happy to say we are back to the ol’ grind. :)

Without further adieu, we are so excited to share these super cute baby shower invites! The soon-to-be mom, Lisa, gave us the theme (birds and bunnies with pastel colors) and just let us run with it…soooo fun!!! We started designing immediately and came up with the idea of choosing a few different fabrics and wrapping them around the invite like an old-fashioned diaper – with safety pin and all. :) We also hand-stitched each invitation with the letter “B” to stand for “birdies, bunnies, and babies”! We had so much fun creating these for the sweet mommy-to-be and can’t wait to meet the little one!! Thanks so much Lisa and grandmas-to-be, Lynn and Jan, for letting us be apart of this special occasion, we are blessed beyond belief!!

{FALL SHINDIG!!! Part Two}

So we decided we wanted to share the Shindig photos in two parts so that we could feature the guys at Labracadabra. :) The photos above were taken by the ultra-talented Aaron Young; the amazing artwork you see behind the dessert table was created by Justin Bauer; the awesome jar/branch lighting fixture on the top right was made by Sean Woolsey; and although the other guys aren’t pictured above, they have just as much unique talent as the others so check them out – Michael Coetzee and Jimmy Pham. Oh, and that’s the little Shindig mascot on the top left – the sweet Kona (Aaron’s puppy)…. we absolutely loooooove her!!!

These guys were so much fun to work with (they even helped clean up!) and we are so blessed to have them as friends :) You are missing out if you don’t check out their work! You can also keep up with them by visiting the Labracadabra site. Enjoy!

{FALL SHINDIG!!! Part One}

Woohoo! The Fall Shindig last Friday night was soooo much fun!!

It all started about 3 months ago when we got the idea of hosting a gathering that would showcase our local artists so that people would be aware of such amazing talent {and venue!} in their own backyard! So we rounded up some amazing diverse vendors, got introduced to a super-creative team under one inspiring roof {Labracadabra!}, finalized a date, and started planning! We scoured estate sales and flea markets for glass jars, vintage cake stands, platters, and anything else we could imagine…. we even visited an old pumpkin patch and gathered a few hay bails for seats around the envisioned fire pit {and smore’s bar!}. Wedding coordinator / super friend, Lindye Galloway, created a piece of felt-feathered art, hung succulents on a free wall at the venue, and even helped with the overall set up!! Our favorite coffee co. – Gospel Swamp – provided their tasty brew the entire night!! So cool!!

We had so much fun putting it together and were so excited that so many people hung out that night! Have to say – our favorite quote of the night was… “This was so awesome!! I felt like I walked into a dream!” Yay! {And since the Shindig was such a hit, we are already buzzing with ideas and have started planning for the next one!!} Yay!

Thanks to everyone who came out that night – we loved hanging out with you!! To those that couldn’t make it – we missed you and hope to see you at the next Shindig…. stay tuned!! :)

Be sure to check out all the incredible artisans that were involved and who truly made the Shindig:

Venue: Labracadabra {AKA coolest place ever!!}

Coffee: Gospel Swamp Coffee Roasters {the next big thing}

Photos [part 1]: Tyler Gipe Photography {suuuuper talented}

Cupcakes: Sweet Caroline {delish!}

Music: The Philadelphia & Keeley Reed {just amazing}

Wall Art / Helpful Friend: Lindye Galloway {event planner extraordinaire!}

Agua: Smart Water

p.s. ….part two coming soon!!

Happy 1st Bday to Wyatt & Charlotte!!

Two first birthdays in one month!! {LOVE} And they are some of our favorite little tikes {of some of our favorite people:: Mark Brooke PhotographersMatthieu Photography}  in the world!!! Needless to say, we had such a blast creating invites for Wyatt and Charlotte…….

We were instantly inspired when Molly asked us to design Charlotte’s bday invites with a library theme. With library in mind, we drew up a simple stack of books asking guests to bring their favorite children’s book so that Charlotte could build her own library… then wrapped it in a page from the children’s classic The Wind in the Willows {found at the library!!} then wrapped a grey piece of yarn around the piece to tie it all together.

About a week after Molly contacted us, we were super excited when Candice asked us if we would create invites for little Wyatt’s pirate-themed birthday party. Yay!!! So, we immediately started brainstorming and quickly came up with the idea of designing a tattered treasure map that would lead guests to the party destination…. and, of course, we had to use pirate talk in the invite – you couldn’t read it without smiling!! :) We then burned the edges and completed the invite by wrapping it with torn fabric.

Thanks Matt & Molly and Mark & Candice for choosing us to create invitations for your adorable one-year-olds!!! We love you guys!!!

{LOVE WAS MADE FOR ME + YOU}

We had so much fun creating this sign for a nautical engagement shoot (photos by Mark Brooke Photographers, styled by A Good Affair, and featured on Green Wedding Shoes, yay!)!! We decided to cut the letters out of dark blue fabric and the hearts out of yellow fabric instead of printing on paper to give it a more artsy feel….. and then strung the finished letters onto white rope for that sea-faring theme. To top it off, we tied red-striped bows on each end.

We would love to chat about your fete magnifique! :) Email us @ invitations@typologieandco.com or tweet us!

Happy Bday Utterly Engaged!!!

UE blog

Utterly Engaged, the wonderful online wedding magazine, is celebrating its first birthday!! Woohoo!! In UE’s latest issue, Lindye Galloway {of Lindye Galloway Events} and Aimee Grover {of Troy Grover Photographers} designed an utterly fantastic video shoot inspired by Sex and the City 2! Enjoy the video and photos here!

When Lindye told us the shoot was going to have a Sex and the City 2/ Abu Dhabi theme, we immediately started brainstorming something that would reflect the culture while looking sleek and simple. So, we decided to go with classic black text on a clean white canvas, with a unique embellishment at the top: thin silver wire with different beads to bring in that cultural feel.

We had so much fun designing these menus and had a blast working with these talented girls!! Thanks Lindye and Aimee for this wonderful opportunity… you guys are awesome!!!!

Love,

{S heart N}

s heart n

We have just been dying to post about this amazing couple!! We met Sean & Nicole earlier this year and we immediately felt a connection to this couple… it felt like we had known them for years after chatting for just a few minutes. Not only are they the sweetest couple ever, they have the coolest sense of style which made their invitation suite such a blast to create!!

Their vintage/rustic theme inspired us to sew a threaded trim around the invites and rsvps. Nicole had bought yards of this beautiful chantilly lace ribbon that just had to be part of the suite… so we ended up using it not only as an embellishment but also used it to attach the rsvp to the invite, creating a sweet little package. :) We decided it needed a little extra vintage flair so we added a unique key to each invitation {we were so excited to see that S&N decided to carry that theme into their wedding:: keys adorning the candy bar table! love!}

For fun, we created a little tag with the sweet message- “s heart n” on it and presented it along with their invite mockups… needless to say, we were just thrilled when they asked us to make the tags for their wedding favors – mini wine bottles!

Just when we thought this fun project was over {sad}, we got an email from Nicole asking us if we could “spice up” her “boring” guest book – we jumped in excitement {yaaayyy!!} It didn’t take us long to come up with the idea of doing a book cover made with vintage-looking fabric and, of course, we stitched “s heart n” on the front. :)

As you can see in the photos, Sean & Nicole are happily married now and will remain sweet friends of ours… thank you – Mr. & Mrs. Lightfoot - for giving us the honor of creating your invites and everything else!! We love you guys and are so excited for your life together!!

Love,
